SEE BEYOND THE SURFACE

At Mullumbimby Optometrist, our ocular coherence tomography (OCT) capture images of your retina, revealing the unseen details essential for optimising your vision. This imaging technique uncovers layers and structures otherwise invisible during a standard eye exam. By using OCT, we can detect early signs of conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and other retinal disorders long before they impact your vision.

This early detection is crucial for initiating timely treatments and interventions, helping to improve your vision and maintain overall eye health. With OCT scans, we can track changes in your retina over time, providing a comprehensive view of your ocular health and enabling personalised treatment plans tailored to your needs.

Mullum Optoms is here to support adults and children throughout the Northern Rivers, including Mullumbimby, Ocean Shores, Byron Bay, Lismore, Ballina and remote communities. Contact us on (02) 6684 1799 to arrange prescription analysis, an eyewear consultation or to enquire about contact lenses. We're proud to provide accessible eye care by partnering with the NSW Spectacle Program.

FREQUENCY OF OCT SCANS

The frequency of OCT scans can vary depending on individual factors such as age, risk factors and existing eye conditions. For most people, an annual OCT scan is sufficient to monitor eye health and detect any retinal health concerns.

However, those with known eye conditions or other high risk factors may need more frequent scans, possibly every six months, as recommended by their eye care professional. For advice or to book, contact Mullum Optoms today.
