Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a full prescription analysis?

A full prescription analysis involves a detailed evaluation of your current vision prescription to ensure it accurately reflects your visual needs. This includes checking for myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism and presbyopia (age-related near vision loss).

  • What do the numbers on my prescription mean?

Your prescription contains numbers indicating the strength of the lenses you need:

    • Sphere (SPH): Indicates the lens power for nearsightedness (-) or farsightedness (+).
    • Cylinder (CYL): Indicates the lens power for astigmatism.
    • Axis: Indicates the orientation of astigmatism correction.
    • Add: Indicates the additional lens power for reading (for presbyopia).
  • What should I do if my vision is not clear with my new prescription?

If your vision is not clear with your new prescription, you should return to your eye care professional for a re-evaluation. Sometimes, adjustments are needed to ensure the lenses are correctly aligned with your eyes.
